Brice Rex Kistler, 80, of Utica passed away April 14, 2024, at Wynn Hospital.

He was born February 1, 1944, in Muscatine, Iowa, son of the late Ivan and Mable Kistler. He enlisted in the Navy and served admirably from 1962 to 1982 as a Chief Hospital Corpsman. He was also a veteran of the Vietnam war. He married Donna Kistler on November 16, 1968, in Queens, NY. They moved to Detroit, MI and then to Bethesda, MD, until settling with his wife and infant daughter in Utica, NY, in 1973. Brice then attended Utica College and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. He was then an Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy at Herkimer County Community College from 1982-2002.

Brice was an avid fisherman, enjoyed watching sports, listening to jazz, tending to his garden, and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Brice was a member of Mary, Mother of Our Saviour Parish, where he served as a Lector.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Christopher Gould and their daughter Hannah Gould of Baldwinsville, NY as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Donna Kistler; his brothers Garth, Wendall, and Lytle; and his sisters Majorie and Joyce.

The funeral will be on Monday at 1:00pm at Mary, Mother of Our Saviour Parish (Lourdes campus) 2222 Genesee St. Utica, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be at the Saratoga National Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. The family will greet friends and family following the Mass. Arrangments are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
