William G. Delaney, 87, of New Hartford, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, after a long illness.

Bill was born on November 20, 1935 in Utica to William B. and Ethel (Culley) Delaney. He graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School and attended classes at Mohawk Valley Community College. He joined the New York Army National Guard, serving for over seven years. In 1953, he started as an apprentice printer at Utica Typesetting Co., became a journeyman printer in 1959, and spent the next 44 years in the printing industry retiring in 1997 from Taussig’s Graphic Supply.
On April 11, 1959 he married the former Patricia L. Cragnolin in the old St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary the day before he passed.

Bill was a past member and officer of the Utica District Club of Printing House Craftsmen and past member and president of the Mohawk Valley Advertising Club. He was a past member of the Skenandoa Club in Clinton, serving on its board of directors and, at one time, as its Governor. He was the past sexton of East Hill Cemetery in New Hartford and served as a member of the board of directors. He was a current member of the New Hartford American Legion Post 1376.
In addition to his wife Pat (Peppermint Patty), Bill is survived by his three daughters Lauren (friend Doug Mayne) Williams, Karen (husband George) Spinella, and Kristen (husband Andy Lenhardt) Delaney, his grandchildren Jesse Williams, Jenelle (husband John) Hammill, Dylan (wife Kendra) Williams, Courtney (husband Titus) Ciccone, and Breanna (fiancé Max Darman) Kalies, and his great-grandchildren Alexander, Delaney, and Madeline Hammill.

He is also survived by his sisters and brother-in-law, Sister Mary Lou Delaney, CSJ and Kathleen (husband Joseph) Dodge, sister- and brother-in-law Jeannie and Marty Colucci, sister-in-law, Katie Cragnolin and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his son-in-law Greg Williams, mother- and father-in-law Alsace and Cecilia Cragnolin, sister-in-law Judy Cragnolin, and brother-in-law Peter Cragnolin.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at MVHS Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and St. Luke’s Hospital ICU and Intermediate Care, with a special thank you to his nurses Ashley and Andrea, for their care and compassion of Bill.

The funeral will be on Friday, April 21, at 11:30 am at St. Paul’s Church, Park Ave., Whitesboro, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of Mass. Arrangements are with the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
