In Memory of Thomas B. Jones

Obituary

Thomas B. Jones, 83, of New Hartford, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Wynn hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 8, 1942, in Utica, NY, to Spencer and Harriet Jones.

Tom married Barbara Prichard on May 14, 1966, in Sayer Memorial Church. He worked at Chicago Pneumatic as a machinist from 1962-1997, when the manufacturing company closed he worked at Jr. Junction Daycare from 1998-2008.

Tom as a devout member of New Hartford Presbyterian Church since 1955. He was also a member of Mohawk Motorcade Car club until the club disbanded in 2022.

He loved to drag race, specifically at the Cicero drag strip, he was an avid wood worker with a particular love of making wooden cars, Tom enjoyed hunting and was known for his sense of humor. He loved honoring his Welsh heritage, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grand-pups.

He is survived by his loving wife of over fifty years, Barbara Jones; his Daughters, Deborah Jones-Recore and her husband Shawn Recore, Kristin Sittig and her boyfriend Tom Gregory; Grandchildren, Tyler Sittig and his wife Brittany Sittig, Shawna Recore and her husband Adam Hocking, TJ Sittig, Raychel Sittig and her boyfriend Mike Langdon, and Shawn Recore Jr.; Aunt, Kathy Jones; Nephew, Tim Wasciewicz; Nieces, Nancy Ratcliffe, and Jackie Mcdowell; as well as many cousins.

Tom was predeceased by his Parents, Spencer and Harriet Jones; Sister, Jane Wasciewicz and Brother in law, Bob Wasciewicz; Parents in law, Edward and Peggy Prichard; Sister in law, Sharon White and Brother in law Marty White; and Son in law, Jon Sittig.

The family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to the 5th floor staff at Wynn Hospital, especially Dr. Mondom, and the home healthcare from Acacia Company.

A funeral will be held on March 15, 2025, at 11:00am, at New Hartford Presbyterian Church by Pastor Hannah Ratliff and Reverend Dr. Janet Hoover.
