In Memory of Ruth Yauch Knittel

Obituary

Ruth Yauch Knittel, 96, passed away on January 18, 2025, she had a great life.

She was born in 1928 and grew up as a woman “ahead of her time” very smart, independent and athletic. She was proud working as a telephone operator back when that was high-tech. She enjoyed skating, hiking, skiing, dancing and traveled around the world including the Antarctic. Ruth was an avid gardener, bird watcher and artist.

She married William Knittel in October 1957, and he predeceased Ruth. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Farr and her husband, Eric Cruise; sister, Tina Griffin; nephews, Mike Griffin and his wife, Debbie and Mark Griffin and a niece, Lori Griffin.

The funeral will be on Tuesday, January 28, at 1:00 pm at St. Peter’s Church, N. Utica, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
