Obituary

Ruth E. Austin, formerly of Litchfield, NY, passed away peacefully at the Sitrin Long Term Care Home in New Hartford on July 2, 2017 at the age of 92.

She was born in West Exeter, NY, the daughter of Paul and Anna Hornacek on December 29, 1924. She attended West Exeter Elementary School and West Winfield High School. Ruth married Harry E. Austin January 15, 1943 and they had a loving union of 33 years until his death September 9, 1976.

She enjoyed watch all of the wildlife run through her yard and fields. She enjoyed her flower gardens and playing bingo, and the companionship of her past canine friends Shadow and Lobo. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her son Carl of Utica, her daughter Ronda of Utica and son Forrest and Garnett of Utica; her grandchildren Jason, Carrie (Bryan Coromato), Justin, Stephanie Clark, Jessy (March) and Josh (Samm) and one great granddaughter Jaida Austin. A Sister Mildred Seamon of Black River, NY; and her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased in death by a sister Irene Buell, brother Harlan and sister-in-law Lydia Sullivan and brother-in-law Floyd Seamon.

Her family wishes to express sincere thanks and gratitude to the entire staff of Cedarbrook and Hickory House for the compassionate care given to Ruth during her stay there and especially for the care shown during her last few days.

Calling hours are on Monday from 11-1PM at the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
