Roseann Christman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Feb. 26 surrounded by her family.

She was born in 1934 to Paul and Loise Harding in Watsontown, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Montgomery, Pennsylvania, where she met Kennard Christman, her husband of 72 years.

They spent their early married life in California, where he was stationed in the Navy. They raised four children in New Hartford — Linda Christman of Boston, Saundra Virtanen (Michael) of Pittsburgh, Allen Christman (Dawn) of New Hartford, and the late Michael Christman.

Roseann is survived by granddaughter Alexandra Havener (Aaron); great-granddaughters Lily and Charlotte; and her sister Shirley Christman.
She was predeceased by three brothers and has many nieces and nephews.

Roseann was an accomplished gardener, who cultivated many gardens over the years and shared her passion for flowers with family, friends and sometimes strangers who stopped to admire them. She was also an artist and enjoyed painting landscapes and nature.

Her faith guided her life. She was a kind and giving person who volunteered with Hospice, the Youth Runaway Program and Hope House.

She was a longtime member of the New Hartford Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, and was a founding board member of the New Hartford Presbyterian Home.

She spent many happy winters enjoying the sunshine in Palm Bay, Florida.

Her last years were spent with her husband at Sunset Wood Community in New Hartford.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday May 3, 2025, at 2:00PM, at New Hartford Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
