Robert S. Waterbury, 92, of New Hartford, passed away on November 14, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

He was born on November 12, 1926 in Oriskany. He attended Oriskany schools and graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1944. Bob served in the U.S. Army as an MP in Italy during World War II. He attended Utica College upon his return home. He married Marion Smithers Hameline, a widow with 2 young children, on October 4, 1958 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Whitesboro. Bob and Marion were married 53 years at the time of her death in 2011. He is also predeceased by his parents, Sanford E. Waterbury and Agnes Shue Waterbury, and his siblings, Daniel E. Waterbury and Elizabeth Waterbury Ottaviano.

Bob worked for Mohawk Airlines for 20 years as director of marketing. He then went on to work as a certified financial planner for Waddell and Reed for 6 years. Finishing his career as a territorial sales manager for State Chemical Manufacturing Co. for 18 years, retiring in 1992. Bob was also on the Board of Directors at H. Waterbury & Sons and was the past president of Central New York Sales and Marketing Executives (CNYSME).

After his retirement, he served as a volunteer in the New Hartford Fire Department fire police squad for 15 years, using the experience he gained as an MP in WWII.

Bob was a longtime parishioner of St. Paul’s Church in Whitesboro and St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford.

He was an avid golfer and a member of the Yahnundasis Golf and Country Club for over thirty years and served on the Board of Directors. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 1376, New Hartford for 13 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Denise Hameline Brown (Stephen) of Raleigh, NC, Arthur Hameline III (Maureen Bresnahan) of Holland Patent, and Ann Waterbury Silverberg (Lee) of Allentown, PA, his grandchildren, Michael Brown (Anna), Megan Brown Cronin, David Brown (Patricia), Matthew Hameline, Kristen Hameline, Arthur “AJ” Hameline IV (Marisa), Kathryn Silverberg and Caroline Silverberg, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family, Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremations Services, New Hartford.
