In Memory of Richard C. Bremer

Obituary

Richard C. Bremer, 92, of Rome, NY and formerly of Utica died March 17, 2023.

He was born April 13, 1930, in Utica, son of the late Merritt, Sr. and Esthyr Filkins Bremer and graduated from Utica College in 1952. Richard served in the US Navy from 1952-1954.

He married Marilyn Barry, November 17, 1951, in Utica.

Richard was self employed and operated Central NY Hearing Services.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, his children Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Boehlert, Richard (Holly Barnes) Bremer, David (Hyeun ju) Bremer, and James (Patricia) Bremer, 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Carol Bremer and Mary Lou Barry. He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Charles (Connie) Bremer, Robert (Suzanne) Bremer, Sally (Craig) Sexton, Nancy (Henry) Morehouse, Merritt Bremer, Jr. and his in-laws Leo (Bertha) Barry, Leo (Patricia) Barry, William Barry, Sr. and a granddaughter Kathryn Bremer.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Bethany Gardens, especially the 3rd floor caregivers for the care and compassion for Richard and his family.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, New Hartford. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital which became our favorite charity following the care great grandson, Joey, has received there since 2016.
