Obituary

Joan G. Silvernail, 86, of Utica, passed away, November 11, 2024 with her family at her side.

She was born April 21, 1938, in Utica, a daughter of the late Millard and Bessie Keefer Silvernail. She graduated from from Utica Free Academy.

Joan worked for the Bank of Utica for 38 years.

She was a member of the former Olivet Presbyterian Church, Utica, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and Elder.

Joan loved to color, knit and spend time with her family. She loved animals especially her feline friend Diva and dog Niko.

She is survived by her Godson and his wife, Matthew and Jessica Elliott of Bernhard’s Bay, NY, her life long firend Dorothy Elliott of Utica and Taylor Copper who she thought of as family. She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Beveryly and Shirley Silvernail.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Tim Page for all of his Guidance and Friedeship, to all of the girls from the 2nd and 3rd floors of Central Park Nursing who affectionately reffered to her as Mom and Grandma and to Paramedics Russ Tompkins and his wife Liz. Also a thank you to Justin Lewis for making Joan’s camping adventure so enjoyable.

Calling hours are on Saturday from 12:00 noon to 1:30 PM at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
