James "Sonny" Monroe Dixon was born July 15, 1955, to the late Council "Chip" Howard Norwood and Lula B. Dixon in Sweetwater, Alabama.
He received his education at Thomas R. Proctor High School. He served during the Vietnam Era in Guam Saipan as a United States Marine.
James was employed in the past by AT&T, Certainteed, and he also had two businesses; Dixon Trucking and Quality Undisputed Products. At the age of 50, James decided he wanted to increase his knowledge and skill set . He attended Alabama Southern University. Graduating Magnum Cum Laude with a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology.
James is preceded in death by his father Council Norwood Uncles: Connie"Bubba" Dixon, J.P. Dixon, Jesse & James (Lee) Richardson. Aunts: Tut,Jackie,and Dimple Dixons. In addition to a younger set: Mamie (Odell) Douglas, and Mary Ann "Dollbaby"(Earnest) Dixon-Richardson. Also, he is predeced by a host of too many cousins to name.
James is survived by his mother, Lula B. Dixon- (Loman) Pearson and an only child, James L. Dixon, two grandchildren Cameron and Mary Lou.
From a previous marriage (Jimmy Harris) raised as siblings Deborah (Dee Dee) Freeman and Bryan Harris. James is also survived by a multitude of cousins. James lived his life on his terms. Included are many fond family memories.
