Harold (Hal) Carl Rance, 87, of New Hartford, died November 10, 2024, at St. Luke’s Home.
He was born on May 8, 1937, in Buffalo, NY, son of the late Harold and Evelyn (Bond) Rance. He graduated from Bennett High School in Buffalo and the University of Buffalo.
Hal worked for 25 years for Blue Cross/Blue Sheild in the Buffalo and Utica Offices.
He was active in the ROTC at University of Buffalo, he served in the US Army National Guard, was active with the Boy Scouts in Buffalo, was a member of the Utica Curling Club, the Friends of the New Hartford Public Library, the Blue Cross/Blue Shield golf league, the Broomsters Golf League and was an avid Buffalo Bills Fan.
He was a member of the Stone Presbyterian Church, Clinton where he served as an Elder and a Deacon.
Hal is survived by his wife, Linda Jeanne Rance; his children Randy Rance, Cynthia (Randy) Syracuse of PA, his bonus daughter Lauren (Joe) Zimmer; his grandchildren, Shawn (Heidi) Rance, Matthew Rance, Victoria (Shane) Porter and Harley Syracuse; two great-grandchildren, Bellagrace Rance and Kassidi Rance; his brother-in-law Brian R. Stamler. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Harold and Evelyn Rance, his in-laws Robert and Margaret Woodrich; his brothers Bruce (Adele) Rance, Charles (Ruth) Rance and his sister Barbara Rance.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the Staff of St. Luke’s Home, Barton East, especially Christine, Sam, Cindy and Akecia for their excellent care given to Hal.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, at 1:30 PM at the Stone Presbyterian Church, Clinton. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:15 Prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stone Presbyterian Church, in Memory of Hal.
