Obituary

With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Gerald "Jerry" Mattia, 76, of New Hartford, at 2:30 AM on Tuesday, January 28th. Jerry was born on January 24, 1949, the son of Gerald J. and Jeanne P. Mattia of New Hartford. He was a graduate of New Hartford High School. Jerry always enjoyed spending time with friends Tom D'Onofrio, Herb Cully, Pat Tyksinski, Bobby Jones and Pete Simmons, reminiscing about their high school football days.

In 2015, Jerry retired from a job he loved at Sears in New Hartford. Prior to that Jerry worked at Cavallo's Restaurant, Hayes National Bank, Willco Agway and Utica Boat.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Arleen, brother and sister-in-law Ron and Kim Mattia, brother-in-law Jack Webb, brother-in-law Tim Hauck, his wife Cindy and their family, niece Gina Webb Stillman and her husband Adam, nephew Gerald Webb, his wife Theresa and their family, 2 great nieces Samantha and Sydney Stillman and mother-in-law Carolyn Hauck. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Gerald and Jeanne Mattia, father-in law Richard Hauck and sister Marie Webb.

The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the ICU staff at Wynn Hospital, Dr. Desai, Windy Mitchell and staff at Faxton Cancer Center, and the doctors and staff at Roswell Park Cancer Institute for their outstanding care and compassion.

In keeping with Jerry's wishes there will be no calling hours. The family will gather privately for a memorial service. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
