George W. Storm, Jr. (Wes), formerly of Marcy, NY, passed away February 10, 2025 at the age of 87 at the Masonic Care Community.

He was born July 26, 1937 in Johnson City, NY, the son of George W. Storm, Sr., and Wilma B. Storm.

For more than 40 years, Wes was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America. He served as Assistant Scout Master and Troop Committee Chairman of Troop 79, Marcy, NY. He led three expeditions of local scouts to the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM, and received the District Award of Merit for his service to youth in scouting.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hiking, backpacking, and canoeing. His favorite memories were of the many trips with his canoe partner and fellow Scouter, Bill Kritzler.

On June 19, 1965, he married Helen Margaret Arlin at Trinity Episcopal Church. Wes was a faithful member of Grace Church, Utica, where he served on various committees and was the parish archivist for many years. He was a former president and board member of St. Margaret’s Corporation, Utica, NY, and a member of Oriental-Faxton Lodge #224.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; his sons, Mark (Karen) of Watkins Glen, NY, and Geoffrey (Kelly) of Whitesboro, NY; his daughter, Karen (Todd) McNutt of Kingston, NY; grandsons, Joshua McNutt and his fiancée, Lena D’Amico, of Massapequa, NY, and Jacob McNutt of Manhattan, NY; and granddaughters, Amber Warren and Chelsea Warren of Whitesboro, NY. He was predeceased by his parents; and his sister, Priscilla.

Calling hours are from 4-6pm on Tuesday, February 18, at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd, New Hartford, NY. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, at 10am at Grace Church, Genesee and Elizabeth Streets, Utica. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
