Erica Tollerton, 89, of Utica, passed away on November 1, 2017 at the Masonic Care Community.

She was born April 11, 1928 in Rochester, NY, the only daughter of the late Otto and Antoinette Knecht Mestler. She was educated in local schools and graduated from U.F.A. in 1945.

She was married to Victor P. Tollerton in 1949. At the time of his death in 1970, he was Captain of Detectives for the Utica Police Department.

Erica worked for over 20 years as a typesetter and layout person for Presser Silverman, Inc., the former Acme Press.

She had been active for many years in the Boys Scouts of America as a Den Mother and Trainer and was a holder of the Silver Fawn Award from the National Council, BSA. She was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church where she served as Council person for 16 years and was the first women elected as Council President. She was also the Financial Secretary for 30 years.

Erica is survived by 4 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Victor, Jr. and Mary of Utica; Michael and Mary Jo of Taberg; Steven and Laurie of Garner, NC; and David of Mt. Pleasant, SC, as well as one granddaughter, Brittany and her husband Matt Baron; one sister-in-law, Sandra of Richfield Springs and a special cousin Heidi Honey. She was predeceased by three brothers-in-law, Robert, Edward and Thomas and three sisters-in-law, Patricia, Evelyn and Gladys.

The funeral will be on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Our Saviour Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours are on Monday from 4-7 PM at the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremations Services, 1123 Court St., Utica.
