Doug graduated from Utica Catholic Academy in 1950 and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On June 30, 1956, Doug married the former Elaine Roberts in St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford. Doug worked for General Electric for 40 years and retired in 1993.
Doug was a member of Spirit of Hope Catholic Church in Verona Beach. He was also a member of New Hartford American Legion Post 1376 and the VFW of Yorkville.
Doug enjoyed puttering around in his shed and was known for his corny jokes. You could always count on his friendly smile and him having sweets in the freezer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Pratt of Verona Beach; children, Donna Musacchio and her husband, John of Canastota and Rich Pratt and his wife, Tracy of New Hartford; grandchildren, Matthew Musacchio of Nashville, TN and Garrett Pratt of New Hartford; his grandpuppy, Kolby; sister-in-law, Vivian Pratt of Rome and sister-in-law, Linda Dempsey and her husband, Mike of New Hartford and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Pratt.
Doug enjoyed spending time with his family and was especially proud of his two grandsons and their accomplishments.
The funeral will be on Wednesday, at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford. Interment will be at Green Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will greet everyone following the Funeral Mass. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
