Obituary

Daniel P. Barksdale, 70, of Utica, NY, formerly of Holbrook, MA, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024.

He was born June 7, 1954, in Canton, MA, son of William Thomas Barksdale and Muriel Norma (Purdy) Barksdale.

Dan graduated from Holbrook Public Schools in Massachusetts.

Dan married Florence “Flo” Watkins and they spent 30 wonderful years together.

He worked as an electrician for Hess Corporation, and was also a local gas station clerk.

Dan was previously a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, and went on to attend services at Redeemer Church.

He loved NASCAR, going for drives, and spending time with his family and friends.

Daniel is survived by his daughter, Tracy E. (Barksdale) Grossman ; brothers ; in-laws ; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Florence “Flo” (Watkins) Barksdale ; and parents, William and Muriel Barksdale.

The family would like to thank Rosie and Marty for being there during this difficult time and helping to take care of Daddy.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 19, at 4:00 pm at Friedel, Williams, and Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 1123 Court St. Utica, NY. Calling hours are on Wednesday, June 19, from 3:00-4:00 pm at Friedel, Williams, and Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 1123 Court St. Utica, NY.
