With profound sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Charles C. Coupe III at age 72, on February 24, surrounded by his family’s unwavering love.

Born in Utica, NY on May 25, 1952, Charles was the son of the late Charles C. Coupe Jr. and Lillian (Bacon) Coupe, who instilled in him the values of hard work, a passion for learning, kindness, and dedication.

As a child, Charles attended Blessed Sacrament, and was a proud graduate of both Thomas R. Proctor High School and Mohawk Valley Community College. He then served in the National Guard for six years. His strong work ethic shone through as he built a successful career at Marine Midland Bank and later at Prudential Insurance, where he flourished for 15 years.

He met the love of his life, Rosann, in high school, and together they built a lifetime of everlasting memories. They married in 1974 and recently celebrated 50 wonderful years together. With their sons Brian and Michael, the family enjoyed vacations, outdoor adventures, cheering from the sidelines at school sports, car shows, music recitals, playing games, and movie nights.

Charles owned and managed apartment buildings, a laundromat, renovated homes for those in need, and partnered in a variety of successful businesses. His passion, creativity, and tenacity were evident in everything he pursued.

He loved participating in hobbies such as snowmobiling, boating, home repairs, restoring muscle cars (fully embracing the culture immortalized in classic films like American Graffiti) and enjoyed listening to oldies.

His charming personality and intellect was always at the forefront and he lived life as a model of fairness and leadership. Charles was also known for being a keen observer and consistent source of wisdom to all those around him. To know him was to admire him.

Charles is survived by his devoted wife, Rosann, who remained by his side through every challenge with grace and strength. He leaves behind his loving sons and their partners: Brian Coupe and Lauren Polizzi; Michael and his wife, Lauren, along with his granddaughter, Charli, who adored her grandfather and brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his siblings: Charlene and her husband, Dan Laino. As well as his brother, Steve, and wife, Michele.

Charles was predeceased by his brother, James, and godchild, Jason Laino, who both held a special place in his heart. His memory also lives on through many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, the beloved “Rhode Island crew,” and the family pets who brought warmth and comfort throughout his life.

Charles’ legacy is one of love, wisdom, and quiet strength. His spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses of the ICU at Wynn Hospital for their extraordinary compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Calling hours are on Friday March 7, from 4-7 PM at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. The funeral will be Saturday March 8, at 1:00 PM at Mary Mother of Our Saviour Parish, (Lourdes Campus). Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
