Charisse D. Williams, affectionately known as Reecy, was born on August 25, 1954, in Champaign, Illinois, to Elaine and Lemoin Thompson and died on Friday October 11, 2024. She spent her most recent years in Utica, New York, where she became a beloved figure in her community. Charisse was a beloved teachers assistant at Donovan Middle School, where her love for children shone through in her dedication to her job and the countless lives she touched. On October 11th she lost her fight to stage 4 liver cancer after a humbling 4 years. She was known for her nurturing and loving personality, often described as funny and kind by those who knew her.

Charisse greatest pride and joy were her children: Keith Barret, Joseph Holder, Daniel Williams, and Corinthia Williams. She dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting them, instilling in them the values of hard work and determination. She also introduced her children to the Lord and savior at a young age, a relationship they have maintained to this day. Her family legacy continues through her grandchildren—Jada Dawkins, Lashawn Forgit, Anastasia Barrett, Alannah Barrett, Keith J. Barrett, Issac Barrett, Evalina Barrett, Tamia Holder, Jasir Holder, Josiah Holder, Noah Holder, Dante Williams, and Danielle Williams—as well as numerous stepchildren and grandchildren not by blood, including Bobbie Williams, Carlton Williams, Michael Fuller, Nehmiah McKenzie, Jahkim Walls, Antoni Jones, and Kayden Jones. Charisse was also a proud great-grandmother to Liliana, Aliviana, Paris, Britton, Jaxson, Makhi, and AJ. Charisse shared her life with her husband, the late Robert Williams, leaving behind cherished memories for her family to hold dear. She was also loved by many and she kept a lot of people close to her heart.

She is survived by her sisters, Michele and Chana, as well as cherished memories of her siblings Cheryl, Lemoin III, Cheslie, and Lyle, who have passed on.

Described as a strong woman who knew what she wanted, Charisse had an unwavering determination to achieve her goals. In her leisure time, Charisse enjoyed watching her favorite shows, including: The Bernie Mac Show" In the Heat of the Night." She often reminded others of her life motto: "You only live once." Her spirit, warmth, and dedication to her family and profession will forever be remembered fondly by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

The funeral will be on Friday at 1:00 pm at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 1123 Court at York Sts., Utica. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.  Calling hour will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm prior to the funeral.
