Obituary

Barry W. Scott, 77, of Seneca Falls, NY and Sebastian, FL and formerly of LeRoy, NY, died on April 3, 2025, at Ardie R. Copas State Veterans' Nursing Home in Port St. Lucie, FL after a year long battle with brain cancer.

He was born on September 24, 1947, in LeRoy, NY, a son of the late William Scott and Elaine Hewes. He graduated from LeRoy High School in 1965 before volunteering to serve in the United Stated Marine Corp. While bravely fighting in the Vietnam War, Barry was a recipient of a purple heart. After the war, Barry became an electrician, working for Local #86 in Rochester, NY for 35 years. Barry eventually married Maria Peters in 1983, in Newark, NY. A year later, they welcomed their daughter, Stephanie.

Barry was an avid hunter. Besides hunting local game of geese, duck, and deer some of his biggest adventures include big game hunting on an African Safari, bear in Quebec, and alligator in Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Maria; daughters, Stephanie Scott, Trina Falchi (Steven); son, Christian Welch (Erica) and two grandsons, Nicholas and Anthony Falchi; several nieces and nephews, and three great nieces. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Lucie Falchi; twin sister Barbara Hofheins and brother in law, Dr. Nicholas Peters.

The funeral will be on Wednesday, April 16, at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
