Anthony Sullivan of Utica, passed away earlier this month. He received his BA from Utica College and began his working career with the Federal Elections Commission in Washington D.C. He later relocated to New York City and to work in sales and marketing with Sunbeam Corporation, followed by employment with American Express and Shearson, eventually relocating to Upstate New York.
Mr Sullivan considered himself an entrepreneur at heart and a creative force for new business ventures. With his love for the outdoors, the wilds and travel to far off places he launched Great Atlantic Native Salmon Fishing Adventures bringing sport fishermen to the remote and unspoiled far North Atlantic rivers of Murmansk, Russia just as Russia was emerging in the early 1990’s open to free enterprise. Mr Sullivan expanded his new business development to scientific talent acquisition and imports of natural goods such as linen and flax textiles from Northern Europe.
Mr Sullivan always remained committed to the natural environment, locally and across New York State. He was a long time member of the Sierra Club and the Adirondack Mountain Club, Utica Chapter, annually serving as volunteer guide at ADK Lodge. Donations in his honor can be made to the Adirondack Mountain Club.
He is survived by his two brothers, Charles A. Sullivan and his wife, Perla and Brian Sullivan and his wife, Monica.
The funeral will be on Saturday at 11:00 am at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clinton in the spring. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
Donations in his honor can be made to the Adirondack Mountain Club.
