Obituary

Robert Joseph Postiglion, 74, of New Hartford, NY passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born on November 4, 1949, in Utica, NY, to the late Mary Griffin Postiglion. Bob graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1967, going on to serve in the United States Marine Corps. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Marines, Bob attended MVCC and received a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Utica-Rome. Bob married Maureen Heller on June 29, 1974, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Whitesboro, NY. Bob began his career with local accounting firms transitioning to the CFO of F.X. Matt Brewing company, eventually retiring from the NY State Insurance Fund in Syracuse, NY as a Senior Auditor.

Bob was a loving husband, devoted father and proud grandfather. He had a great love for all sports, having coached his son’s throughout their childhood, never missing any of his children’s events. He was an avid New York Rangers fan and a lifelong New York Jets fan. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford, NY, The Knights of Columbus Council 189 and The National Accounting Association.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Maureen Postiglion of New Hartford; children, Christopher Postiglion and his wife, Deah of Guilderland, NY and Amy Cimino and her husband, Stephen of Jamesville; grandchildren, Christopher and Kiernan Postiglion and Gia and John Cimino, sister in law, Susan Heller, brother in law and sister in law Michael and Kathleen Heller; nieces and nephews, Katrina (Brian), Kristan (Anthony), Katie (Andrew) and Patrick. He was predeceased by his loving son, Andrew; his father in law and mother in law, LeRoy and Ann Heller.

The family would like to offer a special heartfelt thank you to the staff at Hospice and Palliative Care for all they did for Bob in his final weeks.

The funeral will be on Wednesday at 11:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
