Obituary

Joyce M. Nemeyer, 74, of New Hartford, NY, died on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Waterville Residential Care Center with her family by her side.

She was born on March 10, 1950, in Rome, NY, to the late William and Bertha (Kotowski) Quinn. She graduated from Holland Patent Central Schools. Joyce married Dean Nemeyer on June 12, 1971 in Holland Patent, NY.

Joyce worked at Marcy State Hospital as a secretary. She went on to be the Clinton Elementary School Secretary for over 20 years, a job that she loved deeply and brought her great joy and many friendships. Joyce was a devout member of St. Thomas Church in New Hartford, she recently started attending St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. She was an axillary member of the New Hartford Legion, and attended many gatherings hosted by the Christian Women’s Club.

In her spare time Joyce thoroughly enjoyed attending book club, traveling, vacationing in Florida, and spending quality time with her beloved grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her son, Brady Nemeyer and daughter-in-law Christina Nemeyer; her daughter Brooke DiMare and son-in-law Michael DiMare Jr.; grandchildren Skye Nemeyer, Reagan Nemeyer, Kayleigh DiMare, Deanna DiMare, Keira DiMare, and Micah DiMare; sister Carol Cummings and brother-in-law Gary Cummings; and several nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend, Alice Cale.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Dean Nemeyer; sisters Sharon Larsen and Susan Quinn.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff on 8 East at Wynn Hospital and Waterville Residential Care Center for the attentive care Joyce received. Also, to Kayleigh DiMare, for being her personal Nurse, showing her love, grace, and dignity.

The funeral will be on Friday, April 19, at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Thursday, April 18, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
