John (Jack) C. Monaghan, 77, of New Hartford, died on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Wynn Hospital.

He was born on February 7, 1947, in New Hartford, a son of the late John F. and Dorothy Wickersheim and graduated from New Hartford High School, class of 1965. Jack worked his entire life to support his family with jobs in law enforcement, construction, and transportation.

Jack was close to his children and enjoyed time with them. He made sure to take time and check-in with them often and was always available to lend an ear or offer support. He was proud of his girls and enjoyed coaching them as children in softball and supporting them as adults with great advice.

Jack was a member of the former St. Thomas Catholic Church in New Hartford and at one time was a member of the Teamsters. With his free time, he enjoyed going to the gun range.

He is survived by his stepdaughter, Heather Rodber, daughters, Kelly Miller and her husband, Michael of Valrico, FL, Amy Palmer of Brandon, FL and Jennifer Esley of Valrico, FL; grandchildren, Tyler Rodber, Michael Miller, Jr., Amylyn Miller, Kaitlyn Monaghan, James, Leah and Nathan Esley; great granddaughter, Adeline; brother, Tim Monaghan and his wife, Kathleen; nieces and nephew, Elizabeth, Laura, Kelly and John. He is also survived by his close friends, Louie and Joey. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Tara Palmer and sister, Ann Monaghan.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Louie for being a great friend to Jack and always there to help in any way he could.

The funeral will be on Thursday, April 25 at 12:00 at St. Thomas Church, Clinton Rd., New Hartford, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hour will be on Thursday, April 25, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
